  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening, lard, butter, or margarine
  • 4 to 5 tablespoons ice water, as needed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups light corn syrup
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch crust (above)
  • whipped cream, for garnish
