  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 loaf (about 20 ounces) soft italian bread, cut into 1-inch thick slices
  • maple syrup, to garnish
