  • 4 large egg whites with no traces of yolk, at room temperature

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cold heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh berries, such as raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, or sliced strawberries
