  • 1/4 cup golden syrup (you can substitute honey, if you can’t find it)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh gingerroot
