  • 2 cups bread flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 large egg, room temperature, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon light brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter , room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup belgian pearl sugar (lars own brand is an excellent choice) or sugar cubes that you’ve coarsely crushed in a mini chop, a food processor, or this old-fashioned nut-grinder contraption
