  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • pinch of salt
  • heaping 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 large egg, beaten and granulated sugar for topping the unbaked pie
