Ingredients

  • 1 lb 10 oz (750 g) cod, halibut, or other white fish, filleted
  • 2 tbsp single cream or milk
  • 8 1/2 oz (250 g) smoked haddock or other smoked fish
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to season
  • 16 fl oz (500 ml) milk
  • 8 oz (225 g) cooked peeled prawns
  • 1 small onion, roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp capers in brine, drained, rinsed, and chopped (optional)
  • 3 1/2 oz (100 g) butter
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley leaves
  • 1 oz (30 g) plain flour
  • 1/2 oz (15 g) parmesan, grated (optional)
  • 3 lb 3 oz (1.5 kg) potatoes, peeled and quartered
