  • 2 oz. bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 oz. (1 tbs.) unsalted butter, cut into 3 pieces
  • 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • lightly sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)
